Welcome to the 2008 DMV ESA Competition Season
CONGRATUALTIONS NEW CO-DIRECTORS CHRIS & CAMMIE MAKIBBIN
It's Official.... Chris & Cammie Makibben have been voted in by the Eastern Surfing Association board of directors as Co-Directors alongside of me for the Delmarva District! I want to thank them personally for all their time and effort they selflessly put into the district.
Make it a point to congratulate them the next time you see them in the water or on land!
On a less happy topic, due to time and scheduling conflicts we are forced to cancel both:
the K-Coast Grom Beginner's Bash on July 26
and the
Quiet Storm Wahine Surf-Off on August 2.
These contests are being cancelled due to the enormous work that Chris, Cammie, and myself have been put under in taking over the district. Unfortunately we cannot maintain the rigorous schedule that Art has established and in no way reflects decisions made by our sponsors K-Coast and Quiet Storm.
Again on a happier note, Quiet Storm has taken on the Sponsorship of our next scheduled contest the:
"QUIET STORM MARYLAND STATE SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS"
Like the Malibu's contest this will be a pre-contest entry only. Form posted below.
Print it out and mail it off today! Please don't wait till the last minute!

Also, the mix up with the Chauncey's Gift cards is being resolved. Please e-mail Cammie at cmakibbin@gmail.com to explain what gift cards you got or did not get if you were a top 3 finalist in the 2008 Chauncey's Surfabout on June 28th. We hope to have everything worked out by the Quiet Storm Maryland State Competition scheduled for August 9th.
THANKS!
Chris, Cammie, Chris

- DMV All-Star team for the 2008 Season. The DMV ESA will be selecting a 2008 DMV All-star team to represent our district. From this team, selections will be made for nomination to the national team. DMV All-Star members will be selected based on these criteria: -
- 1. Competition Results ( District events, regionals, and Easterns. 2008 will only be based on district events due to the timing of this announcement.)
- 2. District Involvement (contest setup, contest breakdown, heat judging, tabulating, check in, press releases, sponsorships, season points updating, etc...) Ask what you can do!
- 3. Character ( made up of Attitude and Reputation in and out of the water)
- 4. Participation in DMV requested events such as beach clean ups and fundraisers as directed by the DMV District.
- Open Shortboard Champion There will be an addition of a perpetual trophy to the DMV ESA. In true WCT or WQS fashion, open shortboard competitors will be battling for the Open Shortboard Title based on their seasonal point accumulation. Simply stated the open shortboard competitor with the most points at the end of the 2008 DMV District Competition Season will have their name added to the new Open Shortboard Champion Perpetual Trophy and take their place in history as the Open Shortboard Champion. Additionally, this years champion will be awarded with 1 Round Trip Ticket (Sponsored by Studio S, Jewelry,Engraving & Gifts) to next year's Regionals event which is being held in Puerto Rico!

The Delmarva District of the ESA is run entirely by non-paid volunteers and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our district needs volunteers to take over specific duties within the ESA. There are many jobs that need to be done throughout the year. Some are only during the contest day and others need to be done just before or after an event. We need a crew of volunteers to be in charge of each of the separate duties; equipment manager, set-up, check-in, membership, judging, heat timing/flags, tabulating, updating the results board, tear-down, hauling the trailer, writing press releases, updating points, sponsorships, accounting and entry form drop-off/pick-up from shops. PLEASE consider taking over one or more of these jobs! If you can help, please email delmarva@surfESA.org . THANKS! - Chris
